THIRD (3RD) TERM NEWSLETTER 2020/2021 ACADEMIC SESSION

DEAR HIGHLY ESTEEMED PARENTS

To the glory of God Almighty, this term started and ended well. We wish as a school to thank God so immensely for granting us His Divine opportunity to begin and end the term and by extension the 2020/2021 academic session with awesome joy and amazing fulfilment. The Management uses this medium to appreciate all your support in finance, academic and co-curricular activities. We indeed thank you so immensely for enrolling your beloved children in our ever unique and dynamic citadel of learning (TRAINFIELD COLLEGE). We assure you we shall not let you down in all your expectations from the school. Please, be assured that we shall continue to maintain and improve on our efforts in giving academic and moral excellence to your children, our learned scholars. To this pertinent effect, the school Management hereby uses this medium to raise the following issues:

ACADEMICS

The third (3rd) term 2020/2021 academic session started on the 4th day of May, 2021 and we indeed experienced a lot of academic and co-curricular activities. As we know the school for its excellent academic standard and sound moral uprightness, there is no doubt that the school always wants to reach the greatest heights. To this effect, all hands were on deck to fully impact students with excellent teachings both on academics and moral uprightness. As teachers do their utmost best in teaching aspects in classrooms, the school Chairman and the Proprietress were constantly organizing and educating students to be highly moralistic through well-thought guidance and counseling sessions. And as a result, students academic performances were excellent as reflected in their respective Continuous Assessment, just as their moral lifestyles cum living were positively improved. Our students indeed showed hardwork, commitment, dedication, sacrifice and diligence in their studies. Just as the school has enhanced its teaching methodology to meeting the modern yearnings and aspirations of today's child. We have increased our capacity in practical works for science students to help them understand better their potentially chosen careers, just as we educate them on the theory aspects. The Interclass Spelling Bee, Quiz, Debate and Football League competitions were all carried out successfully to enable our dearest beloved scholars have an all-around learning ability cum experience. With all these, we make bold to say our dearest beloved scholars can stand the test of time anywhere in the world as they have been inculcated with the rudiments of learning. We therefore implore parents not to relent in their efforts from the home front to encourage their children to study hard when at home. Our highly esteemed parents should be assured of our commitment to academic and moral excellence.

EXTERNAL EXAMINATIONS

We are pleased to inform our highly esteemed parents that the JSS3 students have written their BECE examination while the NECO examination is ongoing. The WAEC examination comes up this month. It is expedient to note that all students (JSS3 & SS3) that took part or are currently taking part in the external examinations were adequately grounded academically. Aside the regular classroom teaching and learning processes, students were engaged in extramural lessons. These in no doubt made them well prepared for the respective examinations. As a school, therefore, we are more than confident that humongous successes are what await us as all our students are expected to come out in flying colours in these examinations.

THIRD (3RD) TERM PROMOTIONAL EXAMINATION RESULT

We wish to inform parents that the third (3rd) term promotional examination result will be published on the school's website on Wednesday 11, 2021. Parents are hereby informed to access their children's results online as ever before. Where you experience any glitch or need further clarification or information, kindly communicate this to the school.

SS1 TIME TABLE

Dear parents, the school has noticed that there always seems to be some sort of confusion in choosing the most suitable department for students as they transit from JSS3 to SS1 by both parents and students. Most times, there becomes a conflict of interest between the parent and the child in correlation to which department the child should be or which is best for him. However, it should be noted that to understand this, it is not by mere sayings or parental pronouncements. It takes an indepth academic assessment by the school management and parents to arrive at such a pertinent conclusion in the learning life of a scholar. Therefore, in order to holistically educate our SS1 students to have a feel of the various departmental subjects, assisting them to explore their intellectual abilities, improve in their final chosen careers and help the school and parents to better assess and guide them in choosing a desired career, the school wishes to inform parents that as from next term, the school time table will be modified to accommodate all subjects for those in SS1 only. I.e our SS1 students will start offering all the departmental subjects only in the first term of being in that class. They will however join the most suitable department (science, commercial or art) as from their second term of being in SS1 after due consultation and assessment of their respective academic performance by management and parents. This will help them, as well as parents and the school to know where best (department) they can fit in through a well and thorough assessment of their academic performances in the respective departments. Please, know that no knowledge is a waste in this regard.

HOLY MASS CELEBRATION

To continue to morally and spiritually nurture our students, the school continued with the every first Tuesday of the month Mass Celebration where management, staff, parents and students all share in its divine grace. We are optimistic that with the continuation of this in the school, we shall all continue to experience God's divine grace, protection, favour, peace, financial breakthrough,  blessings et al in our families.

DISCIPLINE

It is salient to note that we have sustained a comprehensive disciplined atmosphere so far within this term and we wish to build on this. We encourage our parents to continue to partner with the school for a more holistic disciplined atmosphere. We also wish to inform us that to achieve greater result in this regard, the school has extracted from the general school policy document, the disciplinary modus operandi for defaulting students. This document (extract) was given to all parents at the PTF meeting of this term. We advise parents to continue to study it and help educate students with it at the home front, so as not to allow them fall below expectation in this regard.

LATENESS TO SCHOOL

We commend parents' efforts on the slight improvement we noticed in punctuality this term. However, we are equally poised to appeal to parents to do more as some students still come to school very late. This is not encouraging as these students miss all pertinent information/learning carried out on the morning assembly. We must note that learning in the school commences daily from the morning assembly. Please, for the avoidance of doubt and purpose of clarity, the school resumption time is 7:30am daily. We expect students to be in school latest by 7:35am. Lateness to school will amount to such student being sent back home.

DRESSING

The school management hereby uses this medium to inform parents of the alarming nature of how some students come to school with clothes not approved by the school authority. Please, note that no student is allowed to come to school with any cloth other than the approved school uniform by the school authority. Defaulting students will be sent home or such material seized.

PROMPT PAYMENT SCHOOL FEES

In order that we can achieve tremendous academic excellence in all ramifications, the school needs a lot of fund to meet its daily financial commitments. Kindly note that the academic standard we all desire for our beloved scholars may be unrealistic if the payment school fee is delayed by parents since the main source of fund for the operation of the school is the school fee. To this regard, we appeal to parents to pay the school fees promptly to enable the school always plan ahead in giving our students the very best in all sense of responsibility. The school management requests that our parents pay the school fees before the first day of resumption for the next term. Please, all fees are to be paid into the respective bank accounts of the school and evidence of payment promptly brought to school for the collection of receipts. We wish to remind you that in line with the CBN Cashless Policy, the Management of Trainfield College hereby notifies parents that the payment of fees can be done through the following ways:

(a) Fund transfer
(b) Direct Instant Platform via individual banks

Parents should please ensure that the names of the child and his class is conspicuously written for easy identification.

ATTENDANCE TO PTF MEETING

The PTF Meeting is an avenue for parents and the school management to fully brainstorm and come up with pertinent resolutions that would better the lots of our beloved children. It is the forum for mutual dialogue between parents and management for the continuous growth, development and progress of our students and the school. Suffices to say, it's highly expedient for parents to attend this termly meeting. However, we have noticed with great surprise and concern that most parents are always absent. This is not a fair scenario. Therefore, we use this medium to appeal to parents to see the need to attend this meeting for the general good of all and sundry.

GRADUATION/END OF SESSION PARTY AND VALEDICTORY SERVICE

The Graduation/End of Session Party and Valedictory Service for the transiting JSS3 students and other classes (aside SS3) holds on 7 August, 2021 while that of the SS3 class comes up on 9 October, 2021 as a result of their ongoing NECO and yet to be written WAEC examinations. We wish them well and a cheerful congratulation to each and everyone of them.

SUMMER COACHING

As the term winds down, and students go for a long vacation, there's need therefore not to allow them to be less engaged even in their academic work. We understand that "out of sight is out of mind," so in order that the students don't lose all they've learnt over time within the course of this term, the school is organizing a comprehensive summer coaching for students where the mixture of academics and social fun are combined to give students an amazing learning experience different from the regular classroom learning experience. This summer coaching commences on 9 August, 2021 by 9am to 1pm daily and ends by 3 September, 2021. Participating students are to pay the sum of N6000 each
